Not quite sure if tutoring is for you or your child? Do you not enjoy learning or think your child enjoys learning? Not to fear Gessie is here to help you say yes to tutoring and yes to fun in learning. I believe that tutoring should be handled with custom care, very much like, raising children in the sense that no two children are alike; each child comes with their own unique hand-book. theatre
I was a few credits shy of a minor in theatre when I did my undergraduate degree at the university of Rhode Island. I have taken theatre 100, 101, 102, along with theatrical dance. I played an extra in several films one being Richard Gere's 2009 film Hachi: A Dog's Tale. I also played Princess Tiana at young children's birthday parties. One of my first jobs when I was a teenager was to be a youth advocate with Project Ujima, where we used theatre to advocate to youth regarding issues related to sex, substance abuse, and domestic violence.
autism
I spent several years, from Aug 2006 - Dec 2008 working as an assistant therapist doing home base treatment at the Groden Network in Rhode Island working with children with special needs/autism. I have worked with children from both sides of the autism spectrum from acute autism all the way to severe autism. At Groden it was our goal to help these children along with their families to maximize that child's independence. I once taught a low functioning child with autism how to ride a bicycle and I consider that to be one of my greatest accomplishments while I was in that profession.
